Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the global safety science organization formerly known as Underwriters Laboratories, was undergoing a major business transformation as it expanded into 58 markets and 110 countries, made acquisitions, and shifted from a nonprofit U.S.-focused business to a global for-profit company. To support this change, UL needed a scalable technology foundation and chose Oracle Exadata along with Oracle’s broader infrastructure and business software stack to reduce time spent managing systems and keep its team focused on customers and mission.

Oracle Exadata and the Oracle platform helped UL run a single worldwide instance of Oracle E-Business Suite with better integration, speed, and scalability. The 18-month deployment finished on time and under budget in December 2013, and UL even expanded the project midstream to integrate three additional acquired businesses. Oracle also patched deployment issues within 24 hours, helping UL complete a rapid transformation and gain better visibility into customer behavior and data-driven value creation.
