Its legacy data warehouse could take up to 18 hours to deliver central reservation reports, causing delays that limited managers’ ability to adjust rates and improve revenue.

After evaluating vendors, Starwood Hotels selected Oracle Exadata Database Machine running on Oracle Linux, along with Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Advanced Customer Support Services. Oracle Exadata cut ETL processing from 18–24 hours to 4–6 hours, made data updates available in 5–10 minutes instead of 24 hours, and enabled up to 288x faster access to changes.
