A Oracle Exadata Case Study
QIIB, a privately owned Islamic bank in Qatar, needed a modern IT infrastructure to improve customer experience, reduce operating costs, and eliminate slow response times across branch, ATM, online, and mobile banking services. The bank chose Oracle Exadata for its high-performance banking platform, along with Oracle Database and related management tools, to support its growing transaction loads and availability requirements.
Oracle Exadata implemented a high-availability production and disaster recovery setup with Exadata Database Machine X4-2 systems, Active Data Guard, and RAC, while also consolidating databases and optimizing workloads. As a result, QIIB cut application response time by 10x on average, reduced a typical report from hours to minutes, saved US$1.5 million annually in database licensing costs, and improved reconciliation time by 60%, all while eliminating downtime and boosting staff and customer satisfaction.
