A Oracle Exadata Case Study
Oracle needed better visibility and efficiency across its forward and reverse supply chains after entering the hardware business through the Sun acquisition. The company also wanted to lower value chain costs, improve on-time delivery of servers and storage, and better predict service-part demand. Oracle turned to Oracle Value Chain Planning, supported by Oracle Exadata and related Oracle Engineered Systems, to help manage this complex global operation.
Oracle implemented an integrated planning and analytics solution that improved supply chain coordination, forecasting, and warehouse visibility. The results included 100% on-time shipments, a 50% reduction in back orders, a drop in parts inventory from US$800 million to US$400 million at go-live, and reductions in safety stock and logistics costs. Oracle Exadata helped provide the scalability and performance needed for millions of daily planning combinations and high-volume parts movements.
