A Oracle Exadata Case Study
Ewha Womans University, a leading women’s education and research institution in Korea, needed to modernize its IT environment to better support student administration, course registration, campus services, and research. Using Oracle Exadata Database Machine, the university aimed to consolidate multiple databases and legacy servers, improve peak-period performance, and reduce IT costs while preparing for future cloud expansion.
Oracle Exadata implemented an integrated infrastructure by migrating 9 databases and 2 legacy servers onto Oracle Exadata Database Machine X6-2 with Oracle Database options. The result was course registration processing that ran 3x faster, campus services delivered up to 40% faster, and total ownership costs reduced by US$265,000, or about 25%, over three years.
