CPFL Energia, Brazil’s largest private electric-energy-generation and distribution company, needed to speed up utility-tax reporting and improve debt collection while handling billing data for more than 7.4 million utility accounts each month. The company also had to meet tighter government reporting deadlines, support 24/7 availability, and reduce data-center space and energy use. CPFL Energia turned to Oracle Exadata Database Machine to strengthen its core IT infrastructure.
Oracle Exadata Database Machine, supported by Oracle Advanced Customer Support, enabled CPFL Energia to modernize its data platform and streamline critical tax, billing, and payment processes. The results were significant: tax reports that once took 10 days were completed in 17 hours, heavy-area billing and payment processing dropped from 5 hours to 2.5 hours, and the platform performed at least 5x faster than the previous system. CPFL Energia also improved debt recovery, reduced storage and energy costs, and increased continuity with Oracle Active Data Guard.
