Ciudad de Buenos Aires Gains Visibility into Storm Water Runoff and Flood Preparedness Systems

Ciudad de Buenos Aires needed a way to monitor rainfall, river levels, storm water runoff, and flood-prone areas in real time to improve public safety and support contingency planning. The city chose Oracle Exadata along with Oracle Business Intelligence Applications and related Oracle tools to create a scalable analytics environment for managing complex storm water and flood watch systems.

Oracle Exadata helped the city build a highly available, real-time platform that unified sensor data, historical records, and forecast projections into a single warehouse with no data loss. The implementation improved early warning response, reporting, and decision-making, enabled new storm water and river flow models, and boosted staff productivity; the project also supported expanded sensor networks and better sharing of weather information across government agencies.
