Canon Processes Data from More Than 1 Million Printers 5x Faster, Improves Customer Service, and Supports Business Growth

Canon Inc., the Tokyo-based imaging and office products company, needed a high-performing, scalable IoT platform to handle data from more than 1 million multifunction printers across 100+ countries. Using Oracle Exadata and Oracle Fusion Middleware, Canon aimed to eliminate I/O bottlenecks, support future printer growth, and migrate to a new system without disrupting global customer printing operations.

Oracle Exadata helped Canon implement a scalable IoT infrastructure with Oracle Event Processing, Oracle Coherence, and related Oracle technologies. The new platform processed printer data 5x faster, cut batch processing time by 50%, supported up to 2 million printers, and improved disaster recovery and data security, while enabling a smooth migration with minimal service impact.
