A Oracle Exadata Case Study
Atos IT Solutions and Services GmbH, a major European IT outsourcing and data center provider, needed to replace aging IBM AIX servers with a standardized, secure, high-performance platform to run multiple customer environments more efficiently while lowering total cost of ownership. The company also wanted to improve SLA performance, simplify administration, and reduce the costs tied to its licensing model. Oracle Exadata was part of the broader Oracle stack used to help address these needs, alongside Oracle SuperCluster and related services.
Oracle Exadata, together with Oracle SuperCluster and Oracle services, enabled Atos to consolidate workloads into a multitenant environment, cut hardware, licensing, power, cooling, and space costs, and boost operational efficiency. The results included 10x higher I/O for batch processing, 50% lower software licensing costs, 75% less monthly spending on power, cooling, and space, more than half fewer administrators needed, and a projected 1.5x increase in platform profitability.
