A Oracle Exadata Case Study
Agder Energi, Norway’s third-largest energy company, faced rapidly growing data and availability demands as it prepared for nationwide smart metering and new digital energy services. To support Oracle Database workloads and replace its VM cluster environment, the company chose Oracle Exadata as part of an engineered systems strategy to improve performance, disaster recovery, and scalability without adding complexity.
Oracle Exadata helped Agder Energi run around 30 Oracle databases across test, development, and production on two Database Machines, while Oracle Database Appliance supported its smart metering infrastructure. The results included up to 10x faster query response times for 800 users, a roughly 3x lower total cost of ownership, reduced downtime risk, and a foundation for launching new services such as time-based pricing, alerts, and self-service.
