A Oracle Construction and Engineering Case Study

Preview of the Shelf Drilling Case Study

Shelf Drilling Optimizes Jackup Rig Operations Globally Thanks to Innovative Mix of Cloud and Hosted Solutions

Shelf Drilling, a Dubai-based offshore drilling services company, needed to quickly stand up a global ERP system that could support financials, asset maintenance, supply chain, procurement, and budgeting across 38 jackup rigs operating worldwide. Working with Oracle Construction and Engineering, the company sought a solution that could deliver near real-time visibility from rigs in remote locations without the cost and complexity of new satellite infrastructure.

Oracle Construction and Engineering, together with partner Tata Consultancy Services, implemented JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Managed Cloud Service in a hybrid model, with offline ERP instances on each rig synchronizing several times a day with a central cloud system. The solution was launched in five months, helped Shelf Drilling become a standalone company within six months, improved user acceptance and reporting, and gave headquarters timely operational and financial updates; it also automated inventory replenishment, optimized maintenance for more than 50,000 items per year, and supported planning and forecasting for more than 90 users.
