A Oracle Construction and Engineering Case Study

Preview of the General Construction Co. Ltd. Case Study

General Construction Uses Web-Based Resources to Develop and Deliver Applications to Construction Sites

General Construction Co. Ltd., a leading building and civil engineering company in Mauritius, needed to protect its legacy application investments while modernizing development for construction-site communications, quantity surveying, HR, and logistics. With Oracle Construction and Engineering’s Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Application Development Framework, the company wanted a web-based, centralized approach that would let teams work remotely from construction sites and support both enterprise and mobile application development from a single framework.

Oracle Construction and Engineering helped General Construction integrate existing Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports into Oracle ADF, standardize web-based processes, and reduce maintenance across internal systems. The company developed agile construction applications for purchasing, scheduling, contractor communications, and timekeeping, while also extending access to remote sites and mobile devices on iOS and Android from a single codebase. Implementation took about a year, with three weeks of training, and the results included faster delivery, improved site efficiency, and a more centralized, standardized application development environment.
