Schaumburger Land Reconstructs Three Hospitals in One

ARCADIS Deutschland led the US$155 million reconstruction of three hospitals into the Schaumburger Land complex in Schaumburg, Germany — a 24,000 m², 437‑bed facility that achieved DGNB Gold pre‑certification. The high‑profile project faced strict compliance and sustainability requirements, an aggressive schedule and limited budget, and a large, dispersed stakeholder group including government agencies, designers, contractors and hospital operations staff.

All project processes, data, communications and approvals were run on a single platform (delivered by Conject, later acquired by Aconex), consolidating functions, enforcing version control and giving project‑wide visibility. This reduced administrative burden, prevented schedule delays and cost overruns, sped invoice processing, eliminated printing and manual filing, accelerated workflows and produced complete documentation for operations and risk management — prompting one project manager to report saving “half an hour per project per day.”
