ISG Delivers Olympic Velodrome Project with Project Control

ISG was the main contractor for the US$98 million ISG Olympic Velodrome in London (now Lee Valley VeloPark), a complex 6,000-seat facility built for the 2012 Olympics. The project required managing numerous subcontractors under the NEC3 Engineering Sub-Contract (ESSC), creating heavy administrative and contractual demands and significant risk of human error, missed deadlines, and cost discrepancies.

ISG implemented Oracle Aconex’s web-based project controls platform tailored to NEC contracts so all stakeholders could collaborate with up-to-date information, linked documents, and a clear audit trail. The system automated NEC3 communications (compensation events, early warnings, contractor instructions), tracked progress against schedule and budget, and managed 4,697 contract change events over 23 months—enabling on-time, on-budget delivery and widespread public acclaim.
