Preview of the Roy Hill Mine Case Study

Iron ore mine turns project information into gold

Roy Hill is one of Australia’s largest integrated iron‑ore mining, rail and port projects—a US$10 billion development near Newman in the Pilbara with over 2.3 billion tonnes of +55% Fe resources and a planned mine life of at least 20 years. The project’s scale and complexity, multiple assets and stakeholders, regulatory compliance requirements and a tight schedule to begin production created a pressing need to reduce risk and streamline information flows.

Oracle Aconex was implemented as a neutral, cloud‑based single source of project information for contractors across 23 organizations, embedding construction collaboration best practices. The platform enabled contract communications, shared document and drawing updates, controlled review-and-approval workflows, and provided a full audit trail with fast web search—improving process control, accountability and information access to support on‑time delivery.
