Hines shores up Toronto Waterfront with Aconex

Hines used Oracle Aconex on the US$22.5 million Bayside Waterfront Toronto project, a multi-use redevelopment that included dock wall stabilization, a public promenade and new municipal streets. The public infrastructure phase involved many stakeholders and complex site conditions—environmentally impacted landfill with low bearing capacity and a high water table—creating risks of cost overruns, schedule delays and high administrative tendering costs.

Hines implemented Aconex’s independent cloud collaboration platform to securely share documents, automatically manage version control, store project records permanently, and run electronic tender and bid management. The result was near elimination of printing and delivery costs, faster identification and resolution of bottlenecks via reporting, a complete audit trail for disputes, and the project remained on schedule and within budget.
