A Oracle Aconex Case Study
Parsons led a $1.2B, four-year design-build project to improve 16 miles of I‑405 in Orange County, California. The team faced a complex review and document-control challenge: thousands of reviewers across up to 30 organizations, cross-organizational technical reviews, coordination of relocation for 100+ utilities, and thousands of submittals managed with error-prone manual processes.
Using Aconex, Parsons implemented configurable workflows, metadata-based codification and automated tracking to manage each submittal type, cross-organization collaboration and utilities. The changes improved visibility and reporting, cut review cycles by one-third (an estimated $5.5M saving with 35 reviewers), reduced contingency by $1.375M, automated utility tracking (saving ~$860K), eliminated five document controllers (saving $1.6M), and lowered errors, rework and claims.
