DEME Group, a global contractor for offshore wind farms, dredging, marine infrastructure and vessel construction, needed a standard but configurable platform to manage document flow and inspections across specialized projects and joint ventures. Key challenges included maintaining stellar safety records, consistent project management, rapid movement of team members between projects, efficient multi‑region review cycles, and preserving a complete, accessible project record for the asset lifecycle.

DEME implemented Oracle Aconex as a templatized, cloud-based platform with configurable workflows and APIs. The solution delivered a 66–75% reduction in new project setup time (from 3–4 weeks to under one week), standardized decision making and setup (saving 1–2 weeks per project), and made the company-wide system fast to adopt. It also enabled at least 40% more safety issues to be raised with better visibility and accountability, eliminated about six days of admin/time‑zone losses in design reviews, lowered archiving costs, and proved ~50% more efficient than the prior server-based approach.
