Deepwater Wind Powers Block Island on Aconex

Deepwater Wind used Oracle Aconex on the Block Island Wind Farm, the first commercial offshore wind project in the U.S. (five turbines, 30 MW, 3.8 miles off Rhode Island). The project required close collaboration among stakeholders, contractors and suppliers, coordination of multiple components (foundations, cable systems, turbines and blades), tight document control for on-time, on-budget delivery, and the ability to share very large design files.

By deploying the Aconex platform—simple to set up, backed by strong customer support and a proven track record—Deepwater Wind centralized document control with a single register and automatic versioning. The platform removed file size/format limits, sped up design reviews and complex processes, enabled regular stakeholder reporting, and helped deliver the project on schedule and within budget.
