Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt, a large nonprofit pediatric cancer hospital, sought to reduce patient deterioration events among its inpatients. The solution from Oracle Aconex involved creating an automated PEWS within the Oracle Health EMR that alerts clinicians to deteriorations in vital signs. This system seamlessly integrated into clinical workflows, prompting staff to take escalating actions based on the patient's score. The results were significant: code blue cases fell by 28% and code yellow cases by 44%. Furthermore, the accuracy of transferring patients to the ICU improved dramatically from 50% to 92%, ensuring children received more timely and appropriate critical care.
