CAMH reduces nursing documentation time by 50 seconds with Oracle Aconex

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) faced a significant challenge with nurse burnout, exacerbated by their electronic health record system which was identified as a contributing factor. To tackle this, CAMH partnered with vendor Oracle Aconex and used Oracle Health Advance to analyze how nurses were interacting with the system and to reduce their documentation burden.

The solution implemented by Oracle Aconex involved using data analytics to identify inefficiencies and pain points within the EHR. This was combined with a staff engagement program to gather qualitative feedback for improvements. As a result, CAMH reduced nursing time spent in the EHR by two minutes per patient and documentation time by 50 seconds. These time savings allowed nurses to see an additional 20,000 patients over a two-month period.
