Aconex helps power construction of transmission line

Oracle Aconex supported Minnkota Power’s Center to Grand Forks (CGF) project, a US$350 million, 250‑mile high‑voltage transmission line in North Dakota. The five‑year program involved multiple contractors and consultants who maintained files on different systems and FTP sites, making large‑document transfers slow and making it difficult to ensure documentation was accurate and available to meet aggressive deadlines.

Aconex delivered a secure, neutral platform with real‑time, centralized access, automated workflows, and instant distribution, tracking and archiving of project information. The system enabled collaboration among 150 people across 10 organizations, eliminated costs associated with a separate FTP site (estimated US$500K–$1M over five years), reduced administration time and staffing needs (saving 5–10 hours/week for 20–25 employees), and improved project delivery and reliability for power customers through faster records access, fewer change orders and better reconstruction planning.
