Dental-Labor Volkmer has been a successful family-run business for over 50 years in Germany

Dental-Labor Volkmer, a family-run dental laboratory in Rheine, Germany, faced the challenge of integrating selective laser melting (SLM) into its growing digital production workflow. To prepare for the future and address rising demand as well as skilled-worker shortages, the lab partnered with Oqton and adopted its cloud-based software platform for laser melting and workflow management.

With Oqton, Volkmer implemented a parallel workflow to test and refine metal printing for bridges, crowns, and RPD frames, while receiving close support throughout the rollout. The solution helped the lab integrate production processes, maintain high quality, and free specialists to focus on finishing and craftsmanship; Christian Knoop said the results met Volkmer’s high standards, with RPD frames that “truly feel handmade.”
