Case Study: Suomen Lähikauppa Oy achieves cost‑efficient, real‑time financial management to support growth with OpusCapita

A OpusCapita Case Study

Preview of the Suomen Lähikauppa Oy Case Study

Extensive Outsourcing Of Financial Management Supports The Growth Strategy

Suomen Lähikauppa Oy, Finland’s third-largest daily consumer goods company (Siwa and Valintatalo, ~670 stores, ~€1.0B revenue in 2012), faced fragmented financial systems and largely manual processes while pursuing a strong growth and renovation programme (20–25 new stores and 120 renovations planned for 2014). To secure cost-efficient, accurate and real-time financial control and to free store staff from administrative tasks, the company outsourced its financial accounting processes to OpusCapita in spring 2012.

OpusCapita took over the entire financial accounting function — including general ledger and fixed assets, purchase and sales invoice processing, accounts receivable and invoicing, warehouse accounting, cash accounts, payments, payroll and travel/expense invoices — and introduced electronic transaction handling and automation. As a result, Suomen Lähikauppa achieved significantly lower finance costs, transaction‑based pricing for transparent cost forecasting, faster turn‑around times and reliable real‑time figures for management reporting, enabling more efficient expansion and letting store staff focus on customer service.
