Lima Memorial Health System, a nonprofit health system in Lima, OH, faced manual, disjointed coding and clinical documentation improvement (CDI) processes that produced conflicting reports, caused rework, and left query times at 30–60 days. To unify workflows and improve accuracy and reporting, Lima Memorial turned to Optum360, implementing the Optum Enterprise CAC and CDI 3D platform.
Optum360’s Enterprise CAC and CDI 3D platform used NLP and a shared technology stack to streamline coding and CDI, immediately improving accuracy and productivity: medical necessity denials fell 37% in the first month, ED productivity doubled (from ~10 to 20 charts/hour), query volume rose 184%, monthly CDI reviews increased 53%, CC/MCC capture improved 6%, and key metrics include a 17% all-payer CMI and a 1.42-day average time to code. Optum360 also provided analytics and partnership to reduce rework, raise clean-claim rates, and give teams shared visibility for ongoing improvement.
