Computer-assisted coding helps power Acadiana Computer Systems’ decade-long growth

Acadiana Computer Systems (ACS), a Louisiana-based revenue cycle management and consulting firm serving more than 4,000 providers, faced rapid growth and a labor-intensive, paper-based coding process that threatened productivity, accuracy and compliance. To scale without adding staff and to integrate with its proprietary systems, ACS selected Optum360’s Optum® Computer-Assisted Coding Professional (CAC Professional) as its vendor and CAC solution.

Optum360 implemented CAC Professional (powered by LifeCode NLP) to automate code suggestions, streamline workflow and integrate with ACS’s software. The results: coder productivity doubled and radiology coding productivity improved ~50%, documents processed per hour doubled, coding accuracy improved (about 85–90% fewer errors), claim denials fell by up to 7–10%, and ACS processed millions of transactions annually.
