A Optum Case Study
Southeastern Medical Group, a multi‑clinic provider with more than 20 locations, faced inconsistent use of a legacy EHR and a mix of manual and electronic workflows that made it difficult to assess and standardize clinical processes. To inform an EHR buying journey and vendors to consider, the group engaged Optum for EHR selection and procurement consulting.
Optum conducted multi‑week onsite visits, staff interviews, and workflow assessments, then developed a maturity‑rating tool and weighted evaluation to normalize scoring across sites; Optum also managed an RFI process and guided leadership through vendor demos and scoring. As a result, Southeastern Medical Group adopted Optum’s recommendations, took immediate steps to improve patient experience and clinical workflows, and ultimately selected a new EHR to deliver greater efficiencies across the organization.
