Case Study: Halifax Health achieves 99% registration accuracy and faster real-time eligibility verification with Optum’s Clearance Patient Access Suite and Ahi QA™

A Optum Case Study

Preview of the Halifax Health Case Study

How the hospital used Clearance Patient Access Suite to streamline front-end processes and accelerate eligibility verification, improve registration accuracy, and increase patient payment collection

Halifax Health, a three-hospital community health system in Daytona Beach, Fla., faced challenges verifying insurance eligibility and maintaining accurate registrations for a large, transient and often uninsured patient population with wide daily census swings. To accelerate and improve verification at registration, Halifax Health engaged Optum and deployed the Clearance Patient Access Suite and Ahi QA™.

Optum implemented the Clearance Patient Access Suite for rapid, real-time eligibility checks and Ahi QA™ to screen and flag registration errors, helping staff identify HMO status, primary coverage, and correct data at the point of registration. The solution enabled earlier patient payment collection, more reliable benefit awareness, and raised account accuracy from about 91% before Ahi QA to roughly 99% after implementation.
