parkrun, an independent non-profit that organizes free weekly community runs, approached long-time Opticon partner ERS for a more efficient and cost-effective way to collect and compile participant timing data from its global events.

ERS developed a custom solution using the Opticon OPN-2002/2006 portable data collector. This allowed volunteers to easily record runner times, which are then quickly downloaded to a PC to automatically generate results. The system implemented by Opticon’s partner provides the foundation for sending times to participants via email, publishing them online, and enabling performance analysis to keep the running community engaged.
