New York’s Nassau Inter County Express (NICE) chooses Optibus for its scheduling platform

Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE), the local bus system serving Nassau County, NY (280 vehicles, 4 depots, 36 routes), faced a time-consuming scheduling process that it updates about four times a year — a process that could take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months. To address this, NICE chose Optibus and its Planning and Scheduling modules to modernize how it plans routes, run times, blocking, runcutting and rostering.

The vendor’s tools shortened the schedule-build cycle from months to weeks, freed staff to focus on better transit design, and improved schedule quality and operator rostering to help with retention — outcomes NICE attributes directly to Optibus.
