A OPSWAT Case Study
Public Electric Utility Company, a large utility operating nuclear and fossil-fuel power plants, needed to protect its systems from cyber intruders and malware brought in on removable media such as USB drives, CDs, and memory cards. The company’s challenge was to securely and efficiently screen portable media used by vendors, partners, service staff, and visitors without slowing operations, and it turned to OPSWAT’s Metadefender Kiosk to help address the risk.
OPSWAT implemented Metadefender Kiosk across the utility’s facilities, using multiple kiosks at each site to quickly scan removable media with several antivirus engines at once. The solution helped the company meet U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and NIST 800-53 requirements, scanned up to 1,000 devices per day at each facility over seven months, and resulted in zero malware infections.
