OpSec Security Helps Protect Valentino Icon by Shutting Down Global Counterfeit Operation

Valentino, the iconic luxury fashion house known for its Rockstud shoe line, faced a large-scale global counterfeit operation selling copied Rockstud designs across marketplaces and social platforms. To protect its brand, Valentino has worked with OpSec Security since 2015, using OpSec’s online monitoring and brand-protection services to detect and investigate infringements on sites like Amazon, Taobao, Instagram and eBay.

OpSec Security’s online monitoring alerted Valentino to infringing listings in February 2019 and its Shanghai team helped trace the seller, enabling test purchases, evidence gathering and coordinated enforcement with Valentino’s legal team and Amazon’s IP Crime Unit. As a result of OpSec Security’s investigation and takedown support, more than 7,000 counterfeit listings, 360+ websites and over 1,000 social media accounts were removed, and the primary counterfeiter was removed as an active threat.
