A OpSec Security Case Study
The Collegiate Licensed Properties Association (CLPA) represents more than 180 colleges and over 2,500 licensees and was struggling with widespread counterfeit collegiate merchandise, weak static labels, and costly manual tracking that undermined royalty collection. To solve this, CLPA partnered with OpSec Security to overhaul its authentication program with tamper‑resistant labels, supply‑chain tracking, and online monitoring and enforcement.
OpSec Security deployed advanced physical-security technologies, secure hangtags, integrated track‑and‑trace services and e‑commerce takedown capabilities, enabling rapid verification of authentic merchandise and more accurate royalty audits. As a result, OpSec Security helped CLPA remove nearly 1 million unlicensed products from the web in 2012 (estimated commercial value $21,467,883), shut down 300 unapproved sites in 48 hours, reduced tag costs while increasing security, and dramatically streamlined enforcement.
