A OpSec Security Case Study

Preview of the Furla Case Study

Building a case against brand imitation for a luxury goods brand in a challenging jurisdiction

Furla, an Italian luxury fashion house, faced a challenge to its brand integrity from a sophisticated counterfeiter known as FurlaBee. This bad actor was selling fake versions of Furla's iconic Metropolis handbag on Alibaba platforms and had even registered the FurlaBee name as a trademark in France and China, making enforcement complex. OpSec Security was engaged to help eliminate this persistent criminal network.

Using its Online Brand Protection technology, OpSec monitored the web to gather evidence, employing IP Proxy Monitoring and Visual AI to prove the counterfeiter's location and common source for the listings. This evidence supported a successful invalidation action with the Chinese trademark office (CNIPA), which deleted the FurlaBee trademark in October 2021. OpSec Security's solution halted the infringing activity and protects Furla with high enforcement compliance rates, including 98% on marketplaces and 99% on social media.
