Case Study: Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda achieves secure, traceable tax-stamp production and global excise protection with OpSec Security

A OpSec Security Case Study

Preview of the Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda Case Study

Forming an enduring partnership that is delivering more effective excise programs worldwide

Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda (INCM), the Portuguese national mint and official printing office, faced the need to add robust optical security features, equipment and know‑how to produce tax stamps in‑house while meeting evolving global traceability mandates. To meet this challenge INCM partnered with OpSec Security, adopting OpSec’s optical security technologies and the OpSec Insight platform to enable authentication, embossing, and end‑to‑end traceability.

OpSec Security implemented its Product Integrity and Traceability capabilities via the OpSec Insight platform, embedding unique identifiers (UIDs) in INCM’s manufacturing process, capturing real‑time production, operator and geolocation data, and enabling mobile validation (integrated with INCM’s UNIQODE). The solution made INCM self‑sufficient in producing authentication features, supported multiple global tax‑stamp programs, delivered advanced business intelligence and mobile enforcement, and helped protect over 10 billion excisable products.
