De Watergroep Prepares the Deployment of Smart Meters With Opinum

De Watergroep, the largest water supply company in Flanders, needed to prepare for the deployment of smart water meters and better understand how to collect, standardize, and analyze consumption data. To support this transition, De Watergroep worked with Opinum S.A. and its Opinum Data Hub platform to test data collection, build a customer portal, and make informed choices for the future rollout.

Opinum S.A. implemented a pilot solution with regional and local tests covering different meter models, communication protocols, leak detection, and usage monitoring. The platform helped De Watergroep aggregate and secure data, provide customers with access to their consumption information, and gain a clearer understanding of smart metering needs; while the project was still in pilot phase, De Watergroep said the collaboration with Opinum S.A. already improved its understanding of the situation and will help it deploy smart meters more intelligently.
