The Aerospace Medical Association Streamlines its Fellows Program with an Online Solution

Aerospace Medical Association (AsMA), the international leader in aerospace medicine, struggled with a labor-intensive pen-and-paper Fellows nomination process that required candidates and reviewers to manually calculate complex scores. To modernize and streamline the workflow, AsMA engaged OpenWater to deliver an online solution — a custom-coded submission form on the OpenWater platform with live score previews and automated scoring logic.

OpenWater implemented a responsive, auto-scored application that flags inadmissible answers and displays real-time scoring for applicants while giving administrators sortable final scores for fast review. After one year with OpenWater, AsMA administrators no longer hand-score lengthy questionnaires, candidates have clearer, faster application experiences, and the review committee can confidently identify top candidates; AsMA has since moved scholarships, awards, and calls for abstracts to the OpenWater platform and plans to extend auto-scoring to those programs.
