The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), a 30,000‑member professional society spanning 88 countries, needed a way to manage complex recognition programs across eight disciplines and keep member data synchronized with their AMS, NetFORUM. AIAA originally selected OpenWater Awards to run its competitive awards but required a custom integration to enable internal cross‑functionality and timely membership updates.

OpenWater built a custom NetFORUM integration and AIAA moved to the OpenWater Growth Stack to centralize awards, scholarships, grants, fellowships and conference registration. The integration provides secure, automated weekly membership data exchanges (weekly Friday syncs), delivering seamless data flow that supports program growth and easier management; the work also helped establish the OpenWater Partner Program and out‑of‑the‑box AMS integrations for other associations.
