A OpenVPN Case Study

REDspace uses LDAP to integrate with their Active Directory for authentication by configuring OpenVPN Access Server

REDspace, a full-service digital studio in Nova Scotia, needed a more scalable and secure way to manage VPN access for its 200+ employees. Its previous Windows-based VPN server could not integrate with Active Directory, making it difficult for the IT team to enforce user-based access controls, customize policies, and maintain oversight as the company grew. OpenVPN provided the Access Server solution to address these challenges.

With OpenVPN Access Server, REDspace gained LDAP/Active Directory integration, SSL-encrypted connections, and the ability to assign access rules by AD group or individual user. The result was tighter least-privilege access, improved security, and simplified user management, giving REDspace better visibility and control over remote access for its team.
