Pulselight is a healthcare analytics company formed to improve the quality, efficiency, and cost of care, bringing together former healthcare executives, investigators, data scientists, and engineers. Faced with the opioid epidemic—particularly severe in Ohio where Medicaid covers a large share of affected patients—Pulselight needed to make massive, disparate datasets actionable in real time to identify at-risk individuals, problematic prescribers and pharmacies, and to guide early intervention and resource allocation.
Using the Vertica Analytics Platform, Pulselight ingests and correlates up to 1.5 billion records daily, cleansing and enriching data for real-time metrics, interactive web apps, alerts, and machine-learning models with 100+ features. The solution delivers instant feedback that reduces opioid prescribing among notified providers, increases referrals to treatment after outreach, improves care quality, and lowers costs by targeting interventions where they have the greatest impact.
