Lab4Motion, a Poland-based software company, delivers AI-driven video and image recognition analytics that map shopper behavior across physical stores (using streams from 20+ cameras with up to 98% tracking accuracy) while preserving privacy. Faced with a rapid data explosion and the need to ingest, correlate and analyze large, disparate real-time data streams for near-instant, personalized retail insights and alerts, their home-grown analytics stack proved insufficient and unscalable.
Lab4Motion adopted the Vertica Analytics Platform for fast, SQL-driven ingestion and in-database analytics, converting X–Y–T video streams into compressed, encrypted data used to create heat maps, triggers and predictive models (including external signals like weather). The result: innovative, near real-time retail analytics, a shift from basic BI to advanced data science, measurable improvements in conversion, basket size and operational efficiency, scalable future-proofing—and about a 30% reduction in TCO.
