Quest Diagnostics, through its ChartMaxx enterprise content management system used at more than 330 sites, stores roughly 3.4 billion documents for over 52 million patients. While ChartMaxx indexed documents by metadata, customers needed deeper, concept-based searches across structured and unstructured content to support research, analytics, patient care, legal requests and workflow automation.
Quest selected Micro Focus IDOL after a proof-of-concept and pilot to enable fast, in-depth indexing and content-based search. The integration unlocked 20+ years of data, automated manual workflows (for example, invoice routing), reduced time-consuming document reviews for legal releases while improving privacy compliance, and flagged cross-patient data—delivering better insight, efficiency and quality of information with future plans for NLP-driven Q&A and broader connector-driven search across systems.
