U.S. Public School System Applies Intelligent Forms Automation Solution to Student Nutrition

Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), a large North Carolina district serving more than 148,000 students, faced rapidly growing volumes of paper applications and diet order forms that overwhelmed its Child Nutrition Services team. Manual, paper‑based workflows caused inefficiencies, delays and increased liability risk—at peak they received roughly 32,000 paper forms in a short window and struggled to process hundreds of diet orders quickly and accurately.

With partner PCS, CMS implemented OpenText LiquidOffice and TeleForm to automate scanning, data capture, allergen management and workflows. The end‑to‑end solution digitized processes, created audit trails, cut processing time and costs, and freed staff for higher‑value tasks—enabling up to 13× more simple diet order forms to be processed per day, improving service and supporting rollout to the Summer Food Service Program.
