TriWest Healthcare Alliance streamlines faxing for facilities across 21 states

TriWest Healthcare Alliance, a Phoenix-based administrator of TRICARE benefits for about three million service members, veterans and families across 21 states, faced a pressing challenge after winning an expanded DoD contract to support 90 locations. The organization needed a secure, HIPAA- and government-compliant enterprise fax solution that could process roughly 6.6 million fax pages per year, integrate with its Cisco infrastructure and MaxMC system, provide custom workflow and audit tracking, and be deployed within a 10-week timeframe.

TriWest implemented OpenText XM Fax with OpenText Professional Services, including OCR, workflow integrations and audit capabilities, and met DITSCAP/ATO requirements. The deployment eliminated analog lines and scaled capacity, yielding about $500,000 in annual savings, boosting daily fax throughput from 28,000 to 45,000 pages, expanding coverage from 32 to 90 locations, and improving document routing and compliance.
