Telecommunications company Aircel connects with Micro Focus® Vertica solution to gain competitive advantage

Aircel, one of India’s largest GSM operators with over 90 million subscribers, needed a reliable analytics platform to turn rapidly growing structured data (10–15% annual growth) and daily summarized records into timely business insight. The company required faster query performance, scalable storage, a sandbox for analysts, and the ability to process and analyze up to 200 GB of summarized data and CDRs daily while keeping costs under control.

Aircel implemented the Vertica Enterprise Analytics Platform and Micro Focus Technology Services, achieving much faster query execution, data loading, and backups, plus seamless integration with existing ETL scripts and SAP BusinessObjects. The solution reduced total cost of ownership, enabled concurrent MIS reporting and ad hoc analysis, and made scaling simple by adding servers or storage—allowing Aircel to build a prepaid data mart, improve decision-making, and explore new monetization opportunities.
