Sydex Sports knocks it out of the park with Micro Focus Visual COBOL.

Sydex Sports is a family-run provider of scouting and analytics software used by 27 MLB teams and more than 100 minor-league affiliates. Facing a 30-year code base of over one million lines, Sydex needed a modern user interface, enhanced analytics and video-graphics integration, and web/mobile access—while fully reusing existing COBOL code and keeping development lean so creative staff could drive screen design.

By moving to Visual COBOL/.NET and COBOL Server, Sydex launched a web version and mobile access, expanded from one to 26 live video angles with 20 TB stadium storage, and achieved full code reuse. The modernization delivered significantly improved graphics, video presentation and visualization tools and a modern, user-friendly interface now used across major professional sports.
