A OpenText Case Study
Sutter Health, a not‑for‑profit Northern California healthcare network serving more than three million people across 100+ communities, faced slow, paper‑heavy fax workflows that impeded timely prescriptions and other patient communications. Manual processes—handwritten notes, physical fax machines and couriered paperwork—created delays and administrative burden for physicians, pharmacies and support staff.
Sutter implemented OpenText RightFax integrated with its Epic EMR and Microsoft Exchange, enabling electronic inbound faxes to attach to patient records and outbound faxes to stream directly from Epic. The solution now handles over one million faxes per month, eliminated hundreds of fax machines, moved to a virtual, clustered environment for high availability, and delivered measurable productivity gains, cost savings and more timely, reliable patient care.
