Students and teachers at the school use OpenText Vibe to sharpen their communication and collaboration skills in a safe online environment

Garden Valley School Division (GVSD), a K–12 district in south-central Manitoba serving about 4,300 students across 12 schools, was falling behind as students adopted new social technologies faster than teachers. That gap was limiting classroom innovation, fragmenting teacher–student communication and raising online-safety concerns, so GVSD needed a user-friendly platform to help teachers keep up—especially around social media and digital ethics.

GVSD implemented OpenText Vibe, a secure, social-style learning environment that supported student microblogging, writing practice and teacher forums for cross-school collaboration. After a pilot of 500 users, Vibe was rolled out to all 4,300 students and 600 staff; teachers report better collaboration and faster feedback, students improved writing and social-media skills, cyberbullying incidents decreased, and the district plans GroupWise integration for seamless access.
