A OpenText Case Study
A State Labor Department that must meet five-day Public Records Act deadlines faced the twin challenges of protecting sensitive data (social security numbers, bank accounts, addresses, etc.) across diverse files and handling requests that ranged from 50 to more than 20,000 pages. With limited staff and budgets, the agency was relying on slow, manual redaction using white tape and pen brackets, which was time-consuming and risky.
The department deployed OpenText Brava! to electronically redact PDFs, TIFFs and Office files using OCR, search-and-replace, templates, reusable scripts and a verify panel to ensure all sensitive content is removed. Brava! produces fully sanitized TIFF/PDF outputs, speeding response times and improving compliance—example: 201 redactions in about 90 seconds versus an estimated two days—while eliminating hidden text and making records easier to distribute.
