Silk Central supports major redevelopment project with effective test management and delivery of dual-language user interface for ease-of-use

Viacar AG, which provides a SaaS road-traffic management system to six Swiss cantons and registers over half of Switzerland’s vehicles and boats, needed a more user-friendly, scalable test-management approach to support its large RoutePlus redevelopment. The challenge was to manage a complete functional and defect-testing cycle across ~6,000 test cases and ~50 testers per cycle while offering a dual-language (German/French) interface for non-expert canton users and integrating with the development team’s JIRA workflow.

Viacar implemented Micro Focus Silk Central as a single application server with dual-language GUIs and translated test cases, integrated with JIRA for transparent defect tracking. The new setup supported collaboration across cantons, enabled drag-and-drop test administration, reduced QA overhead, moved clients toward self-service testing, and increased visibility and reuse across the testing cycle—helping deliver a cost-effective, easy-to-administer platform for the RoutePlus rollout.
